Choices About Prenatal Cannabis Use
Who We Are
Researching Early Brain Development

While both cannabis use and cannabis product potency have increased significantly over the past few decades, limited scientific data is available to help people understand the risks or benefits associated with cannabis use during pregnancy.
Using neuroimaging and blinded developmental assessments, our objective is to investigate how prenatal cannabis use may impact early brain development, and to offer research-validated information to health care providers, pregnant women, and their families.
Our work also aims to improve the ways cannabis use can be self-reported and validated in research settings. We use a variety of novel quantification methods to estimate cannabis use on an individual level, including our CannaCalculator – try it out here!
What We Stand For
Confidentiality
All of your research information will be kept fully confidential. Substance use information is not reported.
Safety
Unlike other kinds of scans, MRI does not use any radiation, and is considered safe for infants. All scans are collected during your child’s natural sleep.
Nonjudgement
We respect your choices. Cannabis-using participants in our study are welcome to continue, stop, pause, or change their use at any time.
Science
We are committed to ethical, accurate, evidence-based research. Our goal is to provide unbiased information about prenatal cannabis use to families, fellow scientists, and our community.
